It is important the day you were born – for we are all forever changed to know you”
~ blessings for the year ahead to all of our October and November Babies!

Sorry for such a late newsletter, but circumstances were WELL out of my control with hospital stays for Mom, myself and some friends and a laptop meltdown. All is well now ~ so I will give some basic details.

Mom had some health problems and a “stroke scare” that placed her in the hospital for a few days. She did make it out just in time to welcome our friends Hope and Willie Kramer here from PA in order to celebrate their beautiful wedding on September 30th at Casa Marina Hotel. www.casamarinahotel.com Spending time with Mimi and Dan was a great way to welcome in October – Freedom Schooner is a trip that all in the St Aug area MUST experience ww.schoonerfreedom.com!

BUT….. it kind of went downhill from there ~ a few friends entered the hospital over the next few days and our Great Aunt Margie passed away at 92 up in PA after years of a being in a comatose state. We send thanks and love to Glenda Flynn for sitting with her and overseeing her care since our move here in 2007.

With all of the stress and loss of sleep, Deb had a collapse considered to be an “episodic event”. A short stint in the hospital gave some much needed rest and a diagnosis of Onset Adult Diabetes – Type 2. A few weeks off from work and learning to isolate from destructive family members was made easier with the support we had from our friends and strong extended family. We especially thank our Casa Family and fellow musicians who covered the work nights so that we would not lose additional income.

We are requesting that you all consider purchase of CD’s from the website as an additional aide to making up the lost income at www.kurtjohnston.com / merchandise. We sold off our much loved golf cart and some smaller home items and extend our sincerest thanks to those who have made purchases and who have helped in many ways to help our family get back on our feet. Special thanks to John and Judy Flynn and owner Bruce of Albion Golf Cars for their wonderful help and understanding! www.albiongolfcars.com

All of these happenings meant that we were not able to travel to PA as scheduled and send love and hugs to Mary and the Staff at Cactus Grill. We appreciate their continued support over this last year. Support them ALL year folks – they are GOOD PEOPLE!

Check out their pics on Facebook. Looks like everyone had fun.

We welcomed brother Wayne in this first week of November to his new home in St Augustine, just as our Phillies lost the World Series to the Yankees. SORRY WAYNE! But we encourage you all to head out to console Wayne and see his wonderful Florida performances by contacting him at www.waynedouglasjohnston.com for his new gig schedule. FACEBOOK too.

The Johnston Duo will continue Wednesday Night Dance Night at Casa Marina all winter long. Kurt is continuing acoustic night on Tuesdays in the Penthouse as a solo. His position at PVPC church continues to occupy his Thursdays and Sundays www.pvpc.com .

Kurts recording studio work has increased and he continues his work with the Hackers Band and Gregg Chirico of Mr Natural & Matural Madness www.mrnatural.com / www.hackersband.com.

Private parties make up for most weekends and there are still some openings if you would like to consider hosting some music through the holiday season.

For now Deb is also pursuing an Administrative Assistant position to supplement the family income. A strong resume of over 20 years of experience make us hopeful that something will come along soon. Resume can be obtained at debrannvocals@aol.com

We look forward to seeing you all soon and wish you all the happiest and safest of Holidays. Take care of each other and be sure to hold each others well being in prayer and good energy.

With Much love ~ Debrann
